The new Health Center on Hans Kirks Vej in Nørrebro was built with green ambitions and Solartag’s roof solution is an integral part of these thoughts.
The center and the surrounding urban space were designed by Dorte Mandrup A/S as general consultant.
The building is located on the corner of Hans Kirks Vej and Møllegade as a neighbor to De Gamles By with an architecture that supports physical activity and movement, social community and learning about forms of exercise and a healthy lifestyle. The architecture and design – both indoors and outdoors – invite physical activity and are therefore consciously targeted at the needs of the users.
Project Manager Lisa Jørgensen from Byggeri København, Municipality of Copenhagen says that the use of the roof surfaces for solar cells was planned from the start, as agreed in the government’s Climate Agreement. The tender materials required integrated solar cells, which met the energy framework in the tender and Solartag’s tempered glass panels with hidden, integrated solar cells were therefore a harmonious match for the building’s vertical surfaces and steel-inspired design.
The surrounding neighboring properties benefit from the absence of annoying glare in the matte Solartag panels.
Just as the house invites users to move in a positive direction with exercise and healthy eating, so too has the idea behind the construction; that the construction industry is pushed in a positive direction with resource awareness, including by recycling bricks from the original building on site. In addition, the roof surface is used to produce energy. Solar cells with batteries make it possible to utilize the cheap electricity periods and the sun’s energy. All lighting is controlled via sensors, so it turns on when you enter and turns off again when there is no activity in the room.
