We thought green before Christiansborg

“When Birkerød Vandforsyning was to have a new roof in 2021, we set out in our strategic plan a high degree of sustainability, and it was therefore quite natural to have solar cells on the roof. We noticed Solartag, which was very solution-oriented, and that is why they were chosen for the task. At the same time, there was to be expansion with storage facilities, where we also chose the same roof as for the main building. Birkerød Vandforsyning has an annual electricity consumption of 500,000 kWh. With a 100 KWp system, we cover approx. 16% of the annual consumption.

Our effective own production is just over 80,000 kWh. Our electricity consumption mainly goes to pumping water out to consumers, and the combination of solar cells and water tower gives us the opportunity to optimize operations and thereby save energy. On very sunny days, we produce more electricity than is needed. Even though we have not earned much on the surplus electricity, it is an extra advantage to be able to send it back to the grid. Each  small savings count in the big picture.”

The discreet solution

“The choice of the Solar Roof has proven to be ideal, both functionally and aesthetically. We experienced that our neighbors, among others, were thrilled to see how discreet the roof was. Solar cells do not usually decorate a residential area, but our solution is an exception.”
