Powerplant gets help from above

“At Haslev Power Plant, we focus on a green profile, which has resulted in a large solar collector park that helps supply hot water to our users. When we had to replace an old asbestos roof on our Peak and Reserve Load Center from 1963, we were very aware from the start that the lifespan was very important. A new roof had to last the life of the building – perhaps the next 100 years. We didn’t want to have to replace the roof again in 20-30 years. That’s why we chose Solartag as a roof with a very long lifespan. We also chose a fixed underroof with roofing felt to support the lifespan of the roof. It was the lifespan that was more important than the electricity production. But the almost 500 m2 delivers 50,000 WP, which is a good supplement to the function of the building with 4 boilers as backup for the city’s citizens. And we can also use the electricity to charge the plant’s electric car. The municipality quickly approved the project and material selection and we hope for more replacements with a green footprint.”

Lifespan and Sustainability

“We store the hot water for consumers using straw and biofuel, as well as subsidies from the solar collectors. Therefore, our electricity production is not the actual purpose, but we use it as a back-up. It was the long-term solution – and the green transition – that was important to us in choosing Solartag. We are very satisfied with that.”
