Fully integrated into the house

“We have completely renovated an old bungalow from 1936. The additional cost of installing a solar roof instead of a traditional fixed roof structure with roofing felt was not extremely high compared to the total project cost. In that sense, it made good financial sense. At the same time, we now have a high-tech home, as we upgraded all the technology in the house because we use a lot of electricity. With the solar roof, we achieve 100% self-sufficiency during the good months. This also means that we expect a short payback period of less than six years.

With our upgrades, the house has gone from an energy rating of G all the way up to A2010. Being energy self-sufficient with a better energy rating is clearly a factor that increases the value of the property, especially if the house is to be sold.”

Innovative storage

“We have built two water batteries of 2 × 160 litres with electric heating coils – and in addition to our 20 kW home battery, we can send power down from the roof and store it for both domestic hot water and underfloor heating.”
