As close to self-sufficient as possible

“We had three priorities when building this house: self-sufficiency, sustainability, and zero maintenance. Those were our main goals for constructing a new home on an old plot. The previous house was beyond saving, and nothing could be reused. But we’ve tried to climate-compensate by choosing high-quality, long-lasting materials, and ensuring the house requires no maintenance—which is also a climate benefit. The solar roof is a key element in making this a low-energy home. Along with our other climate-conscious choices (rainwater harvesting, insulation, heat recovery system, heat pump), it helped us gain an exemption from the mandatory district heating connection—which, in fact, would have been more expensive than our chosen heat pump.

We had no doubt that Solartag is an elegant integrated solution. Many climate-conscious choices can come at the cost of aesthetics—but not this one.”

The electric car charges during the day
