“When we were facing a roof replacement at the Amsterdamgården cooperative housing association back in the fall of 2020, we looked at the options for solar panels that were integrated into the same roofing solution. We wanted Solartag because of the appearance. It was a majority at the general meeting who supported the solution, and already in January 2021, the roof was ready to produce. The cooperative housing association’s 5 plots were merged, each apartment had a sub-meter installed, and now we have our own VAT-registered electricity company. Our electricity is essentially free, but we all pay 2 DKK per kWh for operation and maintenance. We sell electricity to the residents, common consumption, car chargers, and to the grid. The additional investment compared to a conventional roof is well on its way to being paid off, as we have already earned almost 300,000 kr. by early 2024. It will continue in the years to come until the roof is fully paid off.

“With a total battery capacity of 220 kWh, we can sustain ourselves with self-produced electricity when the sun isn’t shining. In the 3 winter months when sunlight is limited, we buy electricity from the grid during nighttime hours from 00:00 to 06:00, while also charging the batteries for the rest of the day’s consumption.”
